A Schur Thing
Parrish Art Museum, Watermill, New York
The Ceremony
The day began under a crisp sky in a tent awash with sunshine—literally. A ceremony bursting with yellow florals greeted guests like a field of summer light, each bloom carefully curated to radiate warmth, joy, and energy. The tent glowed as vows were exchanged, the golden petals echoing the laughter, tears, and electric anticipation of the moment.
The tone shifted from golden ceremony to full-spectrum celebration. The museum’s clean, modern lines became the perfect canvas for a reception layered in lush pastel florals—clouds of blush, buttercream, lavender, apricot, and soft blue spilling generously across tables and installations. Arrangements felt abundant and joyful, as if color itself had taken root inside the space.
Long tables were dressed in painterly compositions of blooms that felt gathered, not placed—garden roses, delicate sweet peas, airy delphinium, and trailing greenery weaving between taper candles. Overhead, light bounced gently off the florals, enhancing their softness while amplifying their vibrancy. It was romantic, but never restrained—elegant with a wink.
At the center of it all, a mirrored appliqué dance floor anchored the room. Its reflective surface caught every swirl of pastel, every flicker of candlelight, every movement of silk and sequins. As the music rose, the floor transformed into a kaleidoscope—guests dancing atop a shimmering reflection of the celebration itself. Laughter echoed against the high ceilings, heels were kicked off, and the energy felt effortless and electric.
What began as a soft, sun-drenched ceremony evolved into a reception bursting with color, movement, and pure joy—an artful party in every sense, perfectly at home within the Parrish’s luminous walls.
